Church History

The church was founded by Pastor John H. Howie and Reverend Patricia W. Howie as Choose Life Church Ministries, Inc. on April 9, 2002, under the authority of Episcopal Pastor John A. Cherry. Weekly Bible Study Services began on July 1, 2002. The First Sunday Service was held on Sunday, January 5, 2003, at the Hampton Inn Hotel in Waldorf, Maryland.

In a year, Choose Life moved to 10579 Middleport Lane in White Plains, Maryland. As the church expanded and needed additional space, in 2010 the church moved into its current location at 19 Irongate Drive in Waldorf, Maryland.  This expanded facility provides space to minister and teach the children, well as space for community activities and classes.

In 2012, God directed Pastor Howie to go back to his original instructions and return to his roots.  On June 3rd, 94% of the congregation voted in favor of transferring into From the Heart Church Ministries Worldwide™.  Choose Life Church Ministries, Inc. is now From the Heart Church Ministries of Waldorf, a church that “chooses life.” From the Heart Church Ministries Worldwide™ (Church History)

On October 30, 2015 Pastor Howie left this earthly realm and began his journey to eternity.  We are truly grateful to God for Pastor’s Howie’s commitment to the faith and his care for the membership.  The life, love and legacy of his earthy ministry continues through the grace of God by his beautiful wife Reverend Patricia Howie.

On Sunday, November 8, 2015, Episcopal Pastor John A. Cherry assigned Reverend Reuben L. Monmouth, III as the Elder-In-Charge.  In July 2016, the church moved to the Annex at 5055 Allentown Road on the Parent Church’s campus while searching for a new church home.  On Sunday, February 26, 2017, we moved into our current church location at 169B Smallwood Village Center in Waldorf, Maryland in an effort to continue to further the Gospel in the Charles County area. Reverend and Minister Monmouth served From the Heart Church Ministries of Waldorf for nearly three years.

On Sunday, September 9, 2018, Episcopal Pastor John A. Cherry, II appointed me as the Interim Pastor of the church.  And on Sunday, March 3, 2019, I was Ordained an Elder and formally installed as the Pastor.

The Waldorf church has continued to grow and develop under me and my wife.
